Recently, Jan has become involved in animal rescue work and has just written and self-published a lighthearted book - the first in a trilogy about the couple’s Havanese pup, Lily Lu, who traveled all over the country with them in their Airstream trailer and was the subject of thousands of pictures! Creating a non-profit around her book, entitled Havanese Day - The Power of Pawsitive Thinking, all profits go to the rescue organizations she’s partnering with to educate people about puppy mills and create more awareness around shelters and what they do specifically to prepare each dog that's adopted before it goes to its new home. Gareth has expanded his creative expression through a collection of short films he has called Contemplations which represent the full spectrum of his creative skills from photography, and video editing, to the narration of his writings.
"I have created a series of short films where I narrate some of my deepest thoughts and writings from over the years. I then pair those writings with my photography and specific music that I've selected to enhance the experience of listening and understanding. My intention is not to teach, preach or philosophize, but rather to encourage others to share their own innermost thoughts and feelings through conversation, and by doing so, recognize the common thread we all share, the one that lays beyond the noise of daily life. It is one of my long-held desires that as humans we begin to recognize the things we have in common, and in our acceptance of this, begin to appreciate our connectivity. I hope that through discussion of my series, Contemplations, we can start that process and hopefully move a little closer together."
